When & why did you first start blogging?

I had a longing to start my blog when I became pregnant with my first born son – I’d spent the Winter of my pregnancy trapped indoors, and I accidentally fell into reading American blogs about life in Alaska because I’m fascinated with life out there.  I loved the idea of my own digital scrapbook and realised that my parents were about to live 137 miles from their grandchild as I’d moved to Hampshire.  I wanted them to be able to see what my we were up to, which is what led to me naming it Keep Up With The Jones Family.

What’s your secret to work / life balance

It’s a crazy game of running about, tipping the seesaw in favour of which aspect of my life needs attention the most – I edit my photographs in the day whenever the boys find themselves occupied with something and don’t need me, and I write at night whilst my husband is cooking dinner and we eat around 11pm then watch whatever series we’re obsessed with – otherwise we wouldn’t see each other!  My youngest starts preschool for a few hours in September, I’m hoping to work as fast as I can in those hours, or catch up with housework. Or breathe, haha.

What’s the last book you read & would you recommend it?

I’ve been on a bit of a reading spree lately – but I have books that I read at different times of the year – for instance, me and my mom will save our Debbie Macomber Christmas books for December to get us in the spirit of the season.  I’d have to say though that the favourite recent book that I’ve read twice over has been an instruction book – Spark Joy by Marie Kondo. Now I need to put it into practice, it was so inspirational. I wish she lived nearby, she’d have a field day with my home!

If you only have 3 minutes, what do you do to #LetGo ?

Breathe deeply and close my eyes.  That sounds so pretentious, but seriously, I tried yoga a few months ago for the first time and I was amazed.  Deep breaths of cool, fresh air [stinky air from a house full of boys doesn’t work so well] make me feel on top of the world.

If you have 30 minutes, how do you #LetGo?

We’re lucky to live where we do – and so I’d either take a walk along the shoreline where the waves break, or through the trees in the New Forest.  Outdoors is where I always want to be.

Describe a cup of tea in 3 words. And If you had to narrow it down, describe a cup of tea just one word!

My cup of tea? Three words – Strong, warm, Tetley. One word? Essential.  Our kettle is the first place I head in the morning.

Sundays are for…..

Mickey Mouse waffles and raspberries!  We have an old waffle maker from when we were married in Disney World that we bring out on Sunday mornings.  The boys bounce in and out of the kitchen with their plates ready every weekend.

Name one thing you are grateful for today

My mom and her text messages. She keeps me sane even nearly 140 miles away.
