July loves from our Mummy Blogger

Well Hello There!

Emma 1 Rotate

July marks the start of school holidays in Little Wood – and a change of routine and easy, breezy days are welcomed with open arms. It has been another busy school year! As a family we have been looking forward to trips away, days spent in the sunshine (perhaps a little optimistic!), and popping on our flip flops.

And we started the month pottering about outside and taking it easy, followed by a new flurry of activity in recent days.

So, without further ado, here are our early Summer loves from Little Wood…

Us and Them

– The Great Outdoors – we have begun the holidays blessed with (mostly!) great weather. And have been lapping it up with plenty of time outside. We invested in this new play frame for the kiddos, and they have been really enjoying it, rain and shine! (NI Climbing Frames) The Mr has grand plans for a second phase, involving bridges and a tree platform – watch this space!

– Little colourful toes and bright Summer shoes – two little girls who love glamour means one Mama on her knees painting tootsies! But it’s a small price to pay for happy feet! And we are simply loving our jelly shoes too – so comfy and in the prettiest colours. (SunJellies)

– Musical interludes – we love a ‘show’ here at Little Wood (they tend to go on a bit, and toilet breaks are not allowed, but the talent is second to none). The little one has been enjoying showcasing her favourite songs (and a spot of interpretative dance!) this month. (My 1st Years)

Me and Him

– Planning a Vay-Cay – as a family we love the South of France, and are heading there again for our Summer break this year. The Mr and I have been compiling a list of our top five things to do while we are there. If you happen to be Cote D’Azur direction this Summer, you absolutely must visit:

Le Bois des Lutins – an adventure playground in the trees. Suitable for all ages, from 2 to 92, and such a fun day out. Bring a picnic!

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild – a stunning house and gardens on the very beautiful Cap Ferrat. They have a little Scavenger hunt for children, and the best hot chocolate known to man.

Emma 6

– The old town of Villefranche – go hunting for fairies in the cobbled streets and caves of this vertically-built town. And the food at Les Garçons is second to none.

Emma 7

– Beautiful Eze Village – climb to the very top of this quaint walled village for the very best views along the coast. You can see to Cannes and beyond on a clear day.

Emma 8

Nice – a beautiful sun-soaked city with brilliant shopping and perfect Niçois cafe culture. The Flower Market and Old Town are definitely worth a mention, and we are excited to see the new city-centre play park which has recently opened.

Little Me

– New swimwear – in the last few years I have ditched last minute, panic attempts at the 30 Day Shred and extreme-dieting in favour of the one-piece. It disguises a lot of problem areas, and looks chic to boot. And could there be anything more beautiful than this one? (Topshop)

– Crochet and print – staying on the monochrome theme, I’m also loving these vest tops and cool, cotton trousers. Perfect for holiday travel, and chasing after active kids! (New Look)

– Filling the house with flowers – Hydrangeas cut from the garden, combined with a little bunch of shop-bought. I love them in pretty jugs, dotted about. Even if it’s rainy outside, it can still be Summer in!

I’ll be back next month with some holiday snaps, days out, and making Back-to-School plans. Until then, have a lovely Summer!
