Well Hello There!

My goodness, where have the school Summer holidays gone?  It is hard to believe that five weeks ago we were making plans to fill our days, and now here we are buying school bags and pencil cases, and measuring for new shoes.

August is always a month of preparation in Little Wood, and the anticipation of a new school year mixed with enjoying the last few routine-free weeks, make it all

the more enjoyable.

So, without further ado, our August loves from Little Wood

Us and Them

– August saw us jet off on our Summer holidays to the beautiful Cote D’Azur (you can find my little travel guide in last month’s post). Holidays with children are best tackled with a mixture of relaxing and activity we have found, and so we did just that. Adventuring, treasure hunting, ice cream eating, and a LOT of water play! Our little three had a ball (and so did we!)…

-Whilst in Nice, we discovered an amazing shop where you can make your own sets of fairy lights, and combine colours from their vast selection.  We spent a happy half hour choosing a bright mix for our playroom, followed by way too much time arranging them when we got home!

-Back to school – planning for September has begun, with a few new purchases. Most significantly school shoes for the little one, who starts Primary School this year. An exciting new beginning, but a bittersweet day too for this Mama! (Cath Kidston)

Me and Him

-Time to ourselves this month has been limited, with three active children to amuse, and ever-extending holiday bedtimes! But we made the most of holiday park times with Café au Lait and our favourite LAC Macarons. You have to snatch a moment of peace when you can!

-Wishing for our own little corner of the South of France. So many pretty houses…

We can dream!

Little Me

-An extra pair of hands for a couple of weeks has meant a little more ‘me’ time, so I have been reacquainting myself with my long-forgotten Kindle, and getting back into reading. My holiday favourites were Summer at the Lake by Erica James, and The Midnight Rose by Lucinda Riley. Both really easy reading. Perfect holiday books!

-Some holiday buys! I struck it lucky in Zara whilst away, and managed to pick up this gorgeous jacket in the sale. (Zara) We also visited a little local market, and I fell in love with this beautiful leather bag and ribbon bracelet…

Made all the more special by the fact that they are locally made!

-I am also really loving this hand wash duo at the moment. I have them in our downstairs bathroom, and they scent the whole room – no need for additional room fragrance or candles. The smell is really pretty and delicate  – I would definitely recommend! (Sanctuary Spa)

September will, no doubt, be an emotional one with the start of a new term, and the beginning of new routines. But we also have birthday celebrations to plan, and are looking forward to the cosy jumpers and crunchy leaves of the new season too. I’ll be back next month with our early Autumn loves.

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your Summer!

E x

Have you little ones starting school this year? Are you finding it all a bit overwhelming too, or is it just me?

I’d love to know!
