Rosie Green on creating her Sanctuary at Christmas

For me creating a sanctuary at Christmas is all about warmth & light (problematic as my husband is not keen on spending on either!).

Here are a few of my favourite things…

1. Shopping for & then displaying new Christmas tree decorations (I allow myself two!). I love Gisela Graham at Liberty.

2. Creating a deliciously Christmassy scented home. This year I’ll invest in The White Company’s close & orange scented Winter Pomander, £15, or I’ll put a few drops of Neal’s Yard Remedies Eucalyptus Organic Essential Oil in a dish on a radiator.

3. Using timer switches, from £10 at John Lewis, to ensure lamps are on to welcome you home from a long walk (or commute!) home.

4.  Winding fairy lights around the branches of our trees in the garden. Brightens up winter nights & gladdens the hearts of passersby.

5. Buying cosy new Christmas pyjamas for the children

6. Tuning the radio into the Kings College Choir on Christmas Eve. The first few notes bring tears to my eyes every time!
