  1. For a subtler look go for smaller glitter particles. Larger flecks are for making a standout statement.
  2. If you’re a beginner, try an eye pencil loaded with glitter first.
  3. For a fresher look use neutral eye shadows under your glitter. For more intensity use glitter over a darker shadow.
  4. Use a primer or foundation on your lids (or any neutral base that feels a bit tacky) to give glitter something to adhere to.
  5. Use the pad of your finger to pat glitter on in the centre of the lid. Use a small amount and build it up gradually. Don’t be too precise.
  6. Charlotte Tilbury usess a cotton bud dipped in moisturiser to capture stray flecks.
  7. Make-up artists like MAC glitter. Their standard Glitter has chunkier pieces, their Reflects Glitter is finer. Both are £17.
  8. Keep glitter below the crease of your eye socket.
  9. Use jewel tones rather than rainbow brights.
  10. Give your body the same chance to shine with our new gold particle laced Shimmer Body Butter, £10.
