From desk to party in 5 steps

Make-up artist Caroline Barnes (who has party prepped everyone from Pixie Lott to Kylie) talks us through her easy ten-minute transformation.

make up 600x350

1) Refresh. You don’t need to re cleanse and start again. Instead spritz with a facial spray (I like Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist, £17) to rehydrate and add dewiness. Then just removed any fallen mascara with a dampened cotton bud.

2) Brighten Eyes. I massage an eye cream all around the eyes. When I’ve been working all day it’s instantly comforting and refreshing, plus it plumps up fine lines.

3) Perfect. I use a concealer (my favourite is Dior Diorskin Star Concealer, £22) to even out skin tone, focusing on the chin, undereyes and the side of the nose. I just dot it on with the applicator and blend with my fingertips.

4) Get Lashed. Adding more mascara is essential. To stop clogging I use a metal comb (try Tweezerman Folding Lash Comb, £9.50 from John Lewis). But don’t use a lash curler on those loaded lashes! The lashes could stick to the rubber pad and you’ll lose them forever.

5) Add Drama. A cream eye shadow is easy to apply and will add a lovely dewy, metallic finish to the eyelids. I like Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadow in Bronze, £7.99.
