October Loves from Little Wood

Well Hello There!1 rotate

Since last we spoke there have been a few changes around Little Wood, and we have welcomed our new little pup into the family. Ernie has settled so well into country life, and he has really completed our home too. I can even (almost!) forgive the tooth marks on the skirting board corners when he turns on those puppy dog eyes. They totally know how to get you, don’t they?

The weather has been just beautiful this past month, with burnished skies, golden afternoons and those perfect icing-sugar frosts first thing. Autumn does my heart good, and Autumn in the country is something worth bottling for sure.

I hope you’ve had a lovely month too!

Our October loves from Little Wood

Us and Them

It has been such a steep learning curve, having a puppy, and we’ve all been adjusting to new routines and responsibilities.  Our kids have taken to him so well though, and he to them too. It has meant even more time than normal outside, and we’ve been very thankful for these crisp, dry days!

Our eldest daughter was ten this month (I still can barely believe it!) and we celebrated in style with a vintage Wonderland tea party. We worked all our creative powers (not to mention our muscles, carrying the kitchen table across the garden) and set it up outdoors.  The little friends she invited seemed to really enjoy it!

Me and Him

October has been a really busy month work-wise for both of us, but we’ve still managed to spend a little time together in between the craziness. And early starts with Ernie have meant a new-found appreciation for Little Wood sunrises. Those Autumn skies can’t really be summed up in pictures (but we tried our best nonetheless!)

Little Me

I’ve been trying to make a conscious effort to let go this month, and remember that I can’t control everything all of the time. I’m such a one for putting pressure on myself to do everything perfectly and, actually, who ever does achieve that consistently?

Time with my little family, away from technology and that crazy-full inbox, has been helping a lot. The Sanctuary #LetGo campaign has really been striking a chord with me, and especially the film they made to promote it. What will I wish to relive when these days are long gone?

I reckon it will be the contentment of afternoons spent in wide open spaces, the company of my favourite people, and the warm grasp of little hands in mine.

As we head into November, I think we could all do with a little more of that!

Wishing you a wonderful month ahead!

E x
