December Loves from Little Wood

Well Hello There!1

I hope you’ve been enjoying a wonderful festive season so far!

For us it has been a particularly busy month. Family life so often is chaotic of course, and even more so in December, with nativities to watch, presents to find and wrap and so many trips and activities planned to make the most of all the magic.  We’ve been enjoying lots of time spent together this month, indoors and out, and feathering our nest ready for the Winter months too!

Our December loves from Little Wood

Us and Them

As well as the obligatory Father Christmas visits, we’ve also loved working our way around Christmas craft fairs, school plays, local productions and tree farms too…

And we’ve been enjoying the odd lazy Saturday as well, before the madness of the school holidays begins!

Me and Him

As our children have gotten older decorating our home has become more of a team effort, but we still relish quiet evenings spent by fire and fairylight as much as ever.  And choosing the Christmas tree is the official start of the festive season for us.  We go to the same place every year and it makes me very nostalgic for all those Christmases when it was just us two, then eventually three, four and five!

Little Me

Winter is definitely not my favourite time of year, but I’ve been keeping positive by focusing on the promise of things to come.  I read a quote a while back that said ‘No Winter lasts forever, and no Spring skips its turn.’  And isn’t that just so true?  In the meantime I’ve filled our home with little glimpses of the new season – cyclamens and hyacinths in mossy baskets and zinc planters. The smell is amazing and whispers to me of bright April days!

And I’m wrapping up and getting outdoors as much as possible with our puppy.  He has become such a part of our family now, and is a real country pup!  He loves forest walks and fresh air every bit as much as I do and he fits in so perfectly at Little Wood.

I’m excited to see what 2016 brings for us.  We plan to spend some time over the holidays thinking and planning for the new year, and I’m hoping that it treats us just as kindly as 2015 has.

Wishing you and your loved ones the happiest and healthiest of New Years.  See you on the other side!
