8 reasons to love the Christmas countdown

Posted on in LIFESTYLE & #LETGO with 0 Comments

We’ve reached the 1st of November and the inevitable Christmas countdown is just beginning! With it being so mild lately, part of us is reluctant to acknowledge the changing seasons (one of our team is still going bare legged…!) but there’s a lot to love about the crazy festive period. Here’s why we love the countdown:

1. Mulled Wine Stalls – There’s a mulled wine cart in the courtyard behind our office that’s our go-to after a hectic day at HQ. If only they did loyalty stamps like Caffe Nero…

2. New Weather Small Talk – We don’t know about you but we were running thin on hot weather related small talk, we’ve lost count of how many times we said  “It’s meant to be hotter here than in Spain today” and ”It’s such a shame to be inside the office when it’s this sunny” in the lift. Rain, snow, frost & fog are all welcome new conversation starters.

3. Window Shopping (for Yourself) – Apart from one super early-bird  team member, we’re all at window shopping stage in our gift planning which involves many an hour of online perusing and/or high street shopping and usually results in us buying at least a few prezzies for ourselves.

4. Tonnes of Great Telly – Nights in get all the more entertaining with The Apprentice, X Factor, Humans, Strictly, The Missing and much more. We can barely keep up.

5. Only Wearing Cosy Boots – Our pumps and sandals are retired for the foreseeable future and boots become our new best friend – knee length, short, heeled, Uggs and even wellies when the weather’s really bad! Want to know our secret? Sometimes we wear slipper socks under them for extra snug toes.

6. All the Advent Calendars – This year we’re going to have a chocolate one and our very own Sanctuary one – double the treats to help us unwind in the final run up to the big day.

7. Hibernation Begins – Whether it’s early nights or lazy lie ins (or both) it’s now socially acceptable to stay in bed for longer. No more “It’s a shame to stay in bed when it’s gorgeous and sunny outside” – it’s cold, it’s dark and 9 times out of 10 you’re better off staying under your duvet.

8. Christmas Jumper Day – This one is a while away but we’re already on the look out for our 2016 number, there’s nothing better than a mufti day at the office (apart from, you know, having a day off). Our current fave is this musical snowman knit from Primark
