Christmas Wishes for Every County

To spread a little Christmas cheer to every corner of the UK, this year we’re getting in the spirit of giving by delivering Sanctuary goodies to one team, group or charity in every county!

We’ll be keeping track of our progress over the Christmas season by turning this map orange as we reach each county.

If you’d like to nominate a team or group for a county we’ve not reached yet then please write us a post on our Facebook page!

UPDATE! Thank you so much to everyone for their wonderful nominations! As you can see we’ve now almost covered all counties (we wish we could grant everyone’s Christmas wishes!!) It’s been so lovely to receive your nominations it’s made us think we’d like to try and keep this up!! Maybe sending out wishes to one group or charity every month!

Aberdeenshire

Women Connect runs projects and networking events to bring together women in business throughout the North East of Scotland so we’ve donated products to all the attendees at their latest event. They do amazing work to encourage, inspire and support women in business as well as promoting their members through their and social media.

Angus

The town mission in Arbroath, Angus has been nominated as they work endlessly for the community. From running a drop in cafe, working at the lighthouse kids clothing bank, a lunch club to make sure people have one decent meal and some company for a while. Morven and her team will all receive pampering goody bags!

Co. Antrim

Tir na nOg is the local Primary School in Ballyclare, Co. Antrim. All the teacher’s at the school work very hard to both educate and ensure all their students are happy and also run extra curricular activities such as after school clubs. Buckinghamshire

The Specialist Therapies team, CNWL Milton Keynes, are part of the NHS and offer help and support to people with Depression, Anxiety, Personality Disorders and those with a history of trauma. The team work together and support each other as well as their patients, so we’ll be treating them to a little something Sanctuary this Christmas.

Buteshire / North Ayrshire

We’re sending some pampering treats to the local cottage hospital team on Millport, Isle of Cumbrae. It is a small team of around 10 nurses who (often stranded on the island due to ferry cancellations caused by weather or technical issues) go above and beyond for the inpatients and the community. 

Caernafornshire

Woman’s Aid in Colwyn Bay are receiving a parcel of Sanctuary treats. They do amazing work offering emotional and practical support to women and their children who are victims of Domestic Violence.

The Laurandy Centre is for use of older people in the community of Wick and surrounding areas who require support during the day. It’s a voluntary organisation & the team go out of their way to help those in their care. Play Alloa offers an extensive range of creative play and social activities to as many local children and adults with disabilities and additional support needs as possible; such as play sessions, social groups, adult life skills workshops, play schemes, volunteer befriending, parent information sessions and respite care and support opportunities. A Sanctuary treat is heading its way to a very special lady & her team – Sian and her team who run 11th Rhyl Brownies. They volunteer their time every week and throughout the year planning memorable fun events for their Brownies. They build their confidence and empower them no matter what their difficulties maybe. The Brownies don’t want to leave the unit when it’s time for them to move on and Sian is like a second mum to them all.

The Friends of the Baby Unit look after the babies in the Neonatal Unit of the Royal Derby Hospital & their families when they have arrived too soon, too sick or too small . The Ladybird Breast Care Unit is run by Poole Hospital and is responsible for screening approximately 96,000 women in the county as part of the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme. Tŷ Hafan is a paediatric palliative care charity offering care to children and support for their families, throughout Wales. They offer comfort, care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families in the hospice, in the community and in their home so they can make the most of the time they have left together. The Supporters of Newarthill Library is a volunteer group campaigning to keep the library from closure. Based in the heart of Newarthill, this library is a true part of the community and the group host art and craft activities, author visits, themed events, fun days, monthly book club for adults and weekly Storytime & Songs sessions for preschool children. We’ll be donating products to the volunteers of the Inverclyde League of Hospital Friends in Greenock, Inverclyde. The Teabar is staffed by 55 volunteers a week and they have raised thousands of pounds which are used to buy vital equipment for the hospital. More importantly they provide a warm, welcoming place for patients, staff and visitors and oft times a gentle hand to someone who is in a fragile state of mind.

Princess Royal Hospital in Telford is the 10th biggest paediatric provider in the country covering a range of different services. We sent some well deserved treats into the nurses working on the Paediatric Oncology ward.  They do an amazing job caring for all the very sick children and teenagers , a particularly special shout out to the nurses who transferred from the Rainbow Ward at Shrewsbury Hospital and cared for Tracey Fox’s son before he passed away in 2014.

The White House in Dudley is a small local charity that supports people with cancer and their families, including afterwards. The Amberley Museum & Heritage Centre is set in a 36 acre site in the South Downs National Park. Dedicated to the industrial heritage of the South East, exhibits include a narrow-gauge railway and bus service, Connected Earth Telecommunications Hall, Milne Electricity Hall, Printing Workshop and much more. The Museum is also home to traditional craftspeople, such as the blacksmith and potter where they have daily demonstrations. We’re sending some Sanctuary treats into the team of staff that work at the Museum.

Warwickshire

The Warwickshire County Council Happy Hookers group was set up in May 2017 following Learning at Work Week as so many people wanted to learn to crochet. They have raised £140 for the British Legion selling poppies and Christmas ornaments (all crocheted) and have made 9 blankets for the palliative care ward at their local hospital, plus blankets and Octopus toys for the premature baby unit at the hospital. All the members will be receiving a festive treat as a token of how grateful we all are for their time and commitment to helping others.

West Lothian

An early Christmas treat has been delivered to the hard working carers of the Poppy Unit which is part of the first rate Crofthead Care Home, Fauldhouse, West Lothian, Scotland. The staff on the Poppy Unit have been nominated as they work very hard, work long shifts and go that extra mile for all the advanced dementia patients in their unit.

Wiltshire

Salisbury Hospice Charity.

Wirral

The COPD, PR & Oxygen Service based in Clatterbridge Hospital, Wirral offers a specialist multidisciplinary approach to the management of patients diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The team have recently gone through both structural changes and a relocation whilst continuing to care for patients with the same high standard. We’ve sent products into the team so they cab enjoy a little pamper time!

Yorkshire

The CF team at Sheffield Children’s Hospital is one of just 13 specialist units in the country. The team there help patients to manage their condition and improve quality of life.     I would like to recommend The Sensory and Assistive Technology Team in Norfolk. We mainly, in the Sensory Team work with people who are Blind and Partially Sighted, Hard of hearing, Deaf and Deafblind people..

    I would love to nominate my animal sanctuary called ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL they do wonderfull work helping stray dogs homeless and dogs from the local pound they are all creatures great and small llanfrecfa Cwmbran gwent

    I’d like to nominate my fibromyalgia group in ammanford wales. we are a group of women who all suffer with fibromyalgia and get together to help and support each other through sharing experience and advice. as not many people are aware of how much it affects us and many of us have become disabled and in wheelchair we understand each others needs. to receive a sanctuary gift for our group would give us that bit of pampering we all deserve.
